It's 9:06 in the Whee, and I've gotten an early start on my day off for no particular reason other than that the dog needed to go out. I've got this runny nose thing from allergies, even though I took Claritin. It has been working so far, with the exception of this. Tonight, I think CB and I will head to the theatre for Pirates of the Caribbean: part three million. Anywho- down to business:
So, I gave Matt a ring-a-ling and we decided that our first major project was to get the mass production of the music vid that they shot last weekend rollin'. Unfortunately, I wasn't a part of the filming (though, I wish I had been). Grandma's birthday fish fry took precedence on Saturday.
I've got four companies in mind right now, but I'm generally just price comparing and seeing what packages are the best deals. If you've got any suggestions for a good company to use for DVD reproduction, please let me know.
We have a few smaller projects heading off. I've got to try to get an outline for a good bio together for the new press packs. I'm going to have to do some research to get the optimal bio. We're also in search of a new booking agent (this one isn't such a small project, but Matt's taking it on, so I'm only a secondary on the matter).
If anyone out there has any suggestions on the DVD reproduction, writing a bio, or booking agents, leave a comment.

In the beginning...
For starters, I'll give you the run-down of how my life is currently, then I'll flesh out into a bit of "Jess, the history".
I'm 21 years old. I live with my boyfriend, two cats, and dog in a small two bedroom in Cullowhee, North Carolina. (Don't even bother looking it up on a map. I'm pretty sure it's not labeled.) I'm a full-time Professional Writing student working at Wal-mart part-time. I'm three semesters, and two summers away from graduating. I'm not stupid, I'm just taking my time. The Campaign 1984 is the first brave soul to use me as their publicist. Projects with them begin very soon. (As a matter of fact, I need to give Matt a ring.)
My current music interests are...well, varied. As a safety, I'll say I'm "indie", but in reality I'm into just about everything with the exceptions of rap and country.
My style is pretty individual. The area I live in is rather influenced by the hippie of this generation and the last, or the "earthy" scene. Cullowhee is less than an hour from Asheville, NC and if you know Asheville, you understand what I'm talking about. So, naturally, I am influenced a tad by this strong persuasion of culture. I also have a rather strong bond with punk and hard alternative music. A pair of classic black Chucks baring holes, scuffs, and a variety of grossness stuck to the bottom hang on my shoe rack. You can find me wearing bright or bold colors in my makeup or clothing when the moon's just right. I have a scarf fetish, too. I'm not even sure how many I have now. I have four tattoos, and I'm not sure when I'll get another one. I suppose when money rains from heaven.
There's a love of "culture" (in the sense of being worldly in an intelligent way) inside of me. The Arts are something I've thrived on my entire life. A fascination in these things are obvious in every aspect of my life-- in a more physical and tangible sense, the decor in my apartment; the clothing I wear; the jewelry I adorn. In a sense of something a bit more spiritual, the music I listen to; my hobbies; the way I love; my ideals; my values; my goals and priorities; what I consider successes.
I have an extensive musical background. So, I hope you will be pleased to learn that I am not critical of music, nor promote music blindly. Meaning, I know what music is, and if it's any good or not. If it's not worth anything, I won't promote it. How are you supposed to promote something you don't have any faith in? Anyway. I began learning to read music when I was four, and began piano lessons at five. My talent and instrumental pallet expanded as I grew older, adding the clarinet, bass clarinet, guitar, frech horn and mellophone, as well as years of semi-professional vocal training. You may wonder why I didn't choose to get my degree in music, rather than writing. My reasoning was that music was a passion I didn't want to turn into work. I had put many, many years into perfecting my musical knowledge and although there is still much more out there to learn, a writing career was more attractive. As a first-year college student, I chose writing in order to strengthen a skill for which I had never had the opportunity to be specially trained. The talent for writing was evident, as I was published when I was ten. I decided to push myself to see if I was actually talented, or if everyone around me just sucked. The jury's still out on that one, but I seem to be doing alright. I discovered the occupation of music publicity only a year ago, but the idea of merging my two greatest loves is completely thrilling!
My current interests as far as hobbies go: amateur (digital) photography, writing, and discovering new avenues of music.
I picked up photography about two years ago. I can't tell if I've gotten better, or the technology has. I wish I could learn to develop my own film. I think that would be more of an art form than photoshop.
As I said above briefly, I was published when I was 10, but I've been keeping a journal since I was 11. I have 10 years worth of musings scribbled in various books. I usually opted to writing in what the bookstore would designate as a "sketch book" because there were no lines, and I felt less restricted and free to write or draw or scribble or whatever.
There is always more to discover about music. It never stops evolving, and once you think you've caught up with it, it changes again.
I was raised a good little Southern Baptist just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Although, I am still a Christian (as in, a believer in Christ and the Bible) I can't say I really claim myself to be Baptist anymore. I've kind of rebelled against the whole organized religion thing. I've always been a rebel, I'm afraid. For those of you who swear by astrology, I was born on the cusp and am both an Aquarius and a Pisces. I favor the characteristics of an Aquarius more often, but I have the artistic airiness of a Pisces. They're often complimentary, but more often than not, it's just another attribute that makes me complicated.
That's me in a lengthy nutshell. I plan to narrow the focus of my blog as my projects build, but until then you'll get a porthole view of me and my progressing career.
Until next time!
